2020 will be remembered as the year of the coronavirus. By mid-March, the whole world plunged into a crisis as the virus spread to every corner of the planet. Once governments declared the shutdown of stores and imposed rules about confinement and social distancing, people began to hoard what is essential to them: from liquor to guns, cannabis, and canned food; every country has its own priority list.
But some products that were always available over the counter suddenly became impossible to find. Essential products were hoarded, prices spiked, and shelves were emptied. And certain goods entered mainstream consumption as new normal.
